Virginia Brewer Watkins

Virginia Brewer Watkins, 91, a resident of 1604 Rock Spring Church Road, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on November 9, 1921 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late George Wiley Brewer and Henrietta Strum Brewer Hite.She was a housewife and member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church for many years where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00AM at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by PastorKathyrn R. Johnson.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two sisters, Annie H. Fridley of Chester, VA and Gladys H. Coker of Raleigh, NC; three nieces, Joyce B. Williams of Buffalo Junction, VA and Mary Elizabeth Elliott and Sherby Wall both of Virgilina; three nephews, Marion Brewer of Oxford, Thurman Brewer, and C.B. Brewer all of Virgilina; and a special niece, Jean Tippett and husband Roy of Henderson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Thurman Watkins; a sister, Nevell H. Stevenson; and two brothers, Thomas Brewer and Morgan Hite.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7:00 till 8:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Jean and Roy Tippett, 182 Carolina Woods Drive, Henderson.
Serving as active pall bearers will be her nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, C/O Sylvia Anderson, P.O. Box 100, Townsville, NC 27584.
