MARIETTA, GA-Walter Thomas Brown, age 74, passed away on March 29, 2016.Born September 26, 1941 in Henderson, NC, he was the son of the late Doris Jackson Brown and Joshua S. Brown.He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
A graduate of Middleburg High School and North Carolina State University, he was an active member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA for 43 years.
His love of protecting our natural resources was evident by his many years of devoted service, including 37 years with the National Park Service.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 12:00 noon in the Middleburg Cemetery in Middleburg, NC by the Rev. Randy Bridges.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louise Holloway Brown of Marietta, GA; sons, Scott Thomas Brown, Sr. (Melissa) of Lake Mary, FL, Stephen Holloway Brown (Ginger) of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Scott Thomas Brown, Jr. (Lauren) and, Emily Katherine Brown of Tallahassee, FL; William Harrison Brown and Lily Elizabeth Brown of Augusta, GA; and one sister, Elaine Brown Jennings (Terry) of Knightdale, NC.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Scott Brown.
The family will receive friends with a reception and luncheon held in the Fellowship Hall of Middleburg Baptist Church immediately following the service.
