HENDERSON-Walter Edward "Bit" Dorsey, age 94, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Senior Citizens Nursing Home.Born on September 3, 1922 in Vance County, he was the son of the late William Lloyd Dorsey and Thelma Barnes Dorsey.He was a lifelong resident of the Dabney community, a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, and retired from EPES Transport after years of devoted service.Known by his nickname, Bit was an avid reader and a lifelong lover of learning.His wealth of information and keen memory made talking to Bit engaging and educational.He will be missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 pm at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Glenn Stallsmith.
He is survived by his brother, Jimmy Dorsey of Macon, GA; and his brother-in-law,J. W.
Moody of Henderson; nieces Terry Elliott and husband, Jimmy and Kathy Overton and husband, Donnie; and nephew Donnie Dorsey and wife, Joan all of Henderson; and many great nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Lloyd "W.L."Dorsey, Jr.; and his sister, Barbara "Teeny" Dorsey Moody
The family will receive friends following the service on Sunday at Sunset Gardens.
