Walter Lee Wade, age 81, a resident of 318 Horseshoe Bend Road, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at his home.Born in Vance County on July 1, 1929, he was the son of the late William Fletcher Wade and Alice Howard Wade.Mr. Wade was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.He was retired from Burlington Industries and Purolator, and was a member of Hermon United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Hermon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Nate Hester and the Rev. John Yount.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hayes Wade of the home; one son, Walter L. Wade, Jr. of Henderson; one daughter Wanda W. Brame of Henderson; one step-daughter, Jane O. Williams of Oxford; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one son, Tony M. Wade; and one daughter, Joyce D. Wade.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 318 Horseshoe Bend Road in the Watkins Community.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Greg Brame, Anthony Wade, Kevin Wade, Chad Wade, Blake Wade, Randy Ellis, Alan Newman, John Capps, Jr., Frankie Wade, Jim Bowen, and Howard Wade.
