HENDERSON- Willard Hayes, 93, of Corbitt Road, passed Friday, September 20, 2024 at a local nursing home. Born in Vance County September 16, 1931, he was the son of the late Nina Swanson Hayes and Eddie Hayes, Jr. and the widower of Ethel Briggs Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a member of West End Baptist Church and retired from Roses Stores. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. by Rev. Wayne Clark in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens. He is survived by his twin brother, Winfred Hayes and wife Marie of Norlina; three nieces, Connie H. Garrett, Stephanie Edwards and Myrtle H. Pernell; a nephew, Adam Garrett; and a step-granddaughter, Heather Whaley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hayes; two sisters, Josephine Naylor and Elder Hayes; three nephews, Tony Hayes, Chad Garrett and Steve Naylor; and a step-son, Steve Dickerson. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
