William Clifton "Snookum" Abbott, Jr.

MIDDLEBURG- William Clifton “Snookum” Abbott, Jr., 87, of West Broad Street, died Monday, March 25, 2024 at his home. Born September 21, 1936 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Irene Clark Abbott and William Clifton Abbott, Sr. Snookum was a Veteran of the United States Army. He also was the owner and operator of Abbott Construction Company and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Victory Baptist Church by Rev. Ricky Easter. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Snookum is survived by his wife, Martha Wade Abbott of the home; a daughter, Cindy Abbott Thompson and husband, Travis of Oxford; and his grandchildren, Seth Thompson and Erin Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Abbott and his sister, Margaret Eason. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Victory Baptist Church; and at other times at the home on West Broad Street in Middleburg. Serving as pallbearers will be men of Victory Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Christian School, P.O. Box 592, Henderson, NC 27536.
