HENDERSON-William Hartwell "Bill" Aiken, age 81, a resident of 1100 Tower Road, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, in a local nursing home.Born in Franklin County on October 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Ivan Aiken and Beulah Burnette Aiken.
Bill was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service and also served in law enforcement for 22 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy Bowen Aiken of the home; one daughter, Kathy A. Abbott (David) of Henderson; two sons, Kirby Aiken (Tammy) of Henderson and Jeff Aiken (Vanessa) of Stedman; six grandchildren, Kelly Abbott Bondurant (Justin), Jordan Abbott, Will Aiken (Julie), Colton Aiken, Jessica Aiken, and Samantha Aiken; and three great grandchildren, Evan Bondurant, Hayden Morton, and Karsyn Morton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Aiken.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home .At other times they will be at the home on Tower Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Will Aiken, Colton Aiken, Jordan Abbott, Scott Renn, Pat Ball, Mike Aiken, Coy Aiken, and Justin Bondurant. Serving as honorary pall bearers will be all law enforcement.
