HENDERSON- William Stephen “Steve” Ball, 86, of Carver School Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Born October 10, 1938 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Mary Belle Roberson Ball and Clarence Norman Ball. He was a longtime member of Carey Baptist Church. Steve was a graduate of Dabney High School, Mars Hill Junior College and N.C. State University School of Textiles. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Lenggries, Germany. Steve retired after 41 years as Vice President of Athol Manufacturing Company. During his career, he traveled abroad extensively building relationships with customers. He especially enjoyed his second career as a realtor with Frazco Realty retiring at age 85. Steve is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ellington Ball of the home; his son, Stephen Scott Ball of Wilmington; his daughter, Renee B. Brumagin and husband, Eric of Lewisville; his grandson, Bailey Brumagin of Boone; a brother, Thomas Leonard Ball and wife, Shelby of Henderson; his sister, Jeanette Ball Brummitt of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bobby” Norman Ball. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. by Rev. Michael Mahan at Carey Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service on Tuesday at Carey Baptist Church; and at other times at the home. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Brummitt, Ralph Ellington, Jr, Tony Norwood, Doug Puckett, Joey Thompson, Brad Weatherington, Robin Overby, and Joseph Abbott.
