William "Bill" Howard Edwards, Jr.

HENDERSON- William Howard “Bill” Edwards, Jr., 78, of Spring Valley Lake Road, died Friday, May 3, 2024 at his home. Born October 17, 1945 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Mary Wiggins Edwards and William Howard Edwards, Sr. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, retired from Sprint where he worked as a public relations manager and ended his work career by leading the Henderson Vance Chamber of Commerce for many years. He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Island Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Yount. Bill is survived by his wife, Bettie Nethery Edwards of the home; two sons, Dr. Bryan Edwards and wife, Julie of Cornelius and Bradley Edwards and wife, Betsy of Oxford; four granddaughters, Anna Edwards, Aubrey Edwards, Mary Edwards and Sarah Edwards; and his brother, Rick Edwards and wife, Diane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley E. Ford and Barbara E. Hawkins. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Island Creek Baptist Church, 950 Stagecoach Road, Henderson, NC 27537. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Island Creek Baptist Church.
