William "Billy" Joseph Perry

HENDERSON- William Joseph “Billy” Perry, 81, of Parham Road, died Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at his home. Born February 28, 1943 in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Blanche Robins Perry and William Jackson Perry and was the widower of Christine Cash Perry. Billy retired from the Henderson Fire Department as a lieutenant. He was a member of Harriett Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon, as the chairman of the building committee and was active in the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 6:30 P.M. at Harriett Baptist Church by Rev. Will Breedlove. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Gardens. Billy is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Ann P. Pernell and husband, Tommy of Kittrell; two sons, William Edwin Perry and wife, Audrey of Henderson and Michael Wayne Perry and wife, Tonya of Oxford; six grandchildren, Kimberly D. Overton, Brandon W. Perry, Joshua G. Pernell, Tyler M. Perry, W. Alex Perry, and Amber Dawn Perry; four great grandchildren, Kiptyn Leah Holtzmann, Madison Lynn Perry, Mason Wayne Perry and Houston Lee Perry; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Roberson. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lila Lee Davidson. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brandon Perry, Joshua Pernell, Tyler Perry and Alex Perry. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harriett Baptist Church, Building Fund, (“Billy Perry” in memo line), 1354 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27537 or Vance County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 402, Henderson, NC 27536. The family will receive friends Sunday evening prior to the service from 5:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. At other times they will be at the home.
