Henderson-William Rancher "Bill" Bowes, age 82, a former resident of Oakdale Circle, died Friday, January 24, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Franklin County on January 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Zack Bowes and Mary Duncan Bowes, and was the widower of Vernell Mitchell Bowes.He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.He was a retired Supervisor from John Umstead Hospital in Butner and was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapelby the Rev. Brent Kasey and the Rev. Ernest Bowes.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia B. Adcock of Henderson and Brenda T. Ramey of Butner; one son, Terry D. Turner of Butner; one brother, Fred Bowes of Henderson; two sisters, Eleanor B. Bush of Folson, GA and Frances Winstead of Wilson; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a special friend, Hattie P. Ranes.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Bowes Felts.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they willbe at the home of Patricia Adcock at 661 Lakeview Drive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
