JACKSONVILLE-William Alvin Brame, Sr., age 86, a resident of 225 White Street, and a former resident of Henderson, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville, NC.Born on March 10, 1925 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Edward Clarence Brame, Sr. and Ferrell Wilson Brame.Mr. Brame was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.He was a retired Superintendentwith the City of Henderson Public Works Department.He formerly served as President of the Vance County Rescue Squad and on the City of Henderson Volunteer Fire Department.He was a member of West End Baptist Church and the Pulliam-Cothran Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph McGowen and the Rev. Dennis Welch.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by two sons, William Alvin Billy Brame, Jr. of Henderson and Dennis W. Brame of Maysville, NC; two brothers, Melvin Brame and Sidney Brame of Henderson; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Mae Boone Brame.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Billy and Joan Brame at 4377 Satterwhite Point Road, Henderson, NC.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Patrick Brame, Chris Brame, Glenn Brame, Mark Brame, Craig Brame, and Brooks Brame.
