William Hammitt Billy Campbell, Jr., 75, a resident of Guardian Care Nursing Home, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011.Born on July 2, 1935 in Granville County, he was the son of the late William Hammitt Campbell, Sr. and Addie Bell Newton Campbell.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church in Kittrell by the Rev. Henry Abbott.A private burial will be held by the family .
Mr. Campbell is survived by two daughters, Daphine Campbell of Williamsboro and Carol C. Reese of Townsville; one granddaughter and one grandson; and three sisters, Hazel Thomas of Oxford, Joyce C. Grant of Lumberton, and Mary C. Bowen of Kittrell.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Campbell; a sister, Estelle C. Hobgood; and a grandson, Chris Hamlett.
The family will receive friends at the home of Bud and Joanne Williams, 6333 Raleigh Rd.Kittrell, and prior to the service from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to a charity of the donors choice.
