HENDERSON-William Rodgers Lassiter, age 79, a resident of 4422 Warrenton Road, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Maria Parham Medical Center. Born on February 22, 1937 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Nathaniel R. Lassiter and Sarah Evelyn Gupton Lassiter, and was the widower of Linda Smith Lassiter.
He was a retired self-employed phone contractor and was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Mens Sunday School Class and was a former Trustee.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by William Lassiter, Jr.Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 pm at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia by pastor Leo DeLorge.
He is survived by three sons, William R. Lassiter, Jr. of Burr Hill, VA, Stan Lassiter of Sterling, VA, and Roger Lassiter of Cary, NC; one daughter, Sharon Casto of Warrenton, VA; one brother Malcolm Lassiter of Mt. Olive, NC; two sisters, Sarah Coghill of Richmond, VA, and Nancy Williams of Henderson; and four grandchildren, Christina Rosado, Sara Casto, Taylor Lassiter, and Celeb Lassiter.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Keith Lassiter.
The family will receive friends on Friday prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.
