HENDERSON- William Franklin “Billy” Lawson, 89, formerly of Coble Boulevard, died Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at a local nursing home. Born December 12, 1933 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Annie Reid Lawson and Hugh Lawson and was the widower of Peggy Ellington Lawson. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War and was a retired plumber. Billy was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Freedom Life Church of God. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Freedom Life Church of God by Rev. Jeff Prewer and Rev. Jerry Nelson. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Billy is survived by his daughter, Debra Ann L. Taylor and husband, Worth of Henderson; two sons, John Franklin “Franky” Lawson and wife, Ann of Henderson and Billy Joe Lawson and wife, Selena of Henderson; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte L. House of Fayetteville. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann L. Talley; two brothers, Eddie “Bob” Lawson and Furnie Lawson; and four sisters, Kennon L. Lassiter, Virgie L. Tucker, Laurice L. Faucette and June L. Harp. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home, on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Freedom Life Church of God and at other times at the home of Frankie Lawson, 426 Rollins Ave., Henderson, NC 27536.
