William O"Geary

William Dick OGeary (Sarge), age 80, a resident of 2384 Dabney Road, died Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on November 7, 1930, he was the son of the late James Buxton OGeary and Catherine Neathery OGeary.Mr. OGeary was retired from the United States Army having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.He was the owner and operator of William E. OGeary Trucking, and was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Marshall Neathery.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens with full Military Honors.
He is survived by his wife, Carol J. OGeary of the home; four daughters, Deborah O. Faulkner, Anita F. OGeary, Lisa O. Perkinson all of Henderson, and Mary Catherine OGeary of Franklinville; one step-daughter, Melissa W. Stancil of Grifton, NC; two sons, Bubba OGeary and Robert W. OGeary both of Henderson; one sister, Helen O. Edwards of Henderson; three brothers, James D. Pete OGeary, Earl Bubbie OGeary, and Kenneth H. OGeary all of Henderson; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary T. OGeary; and one sister, Sarah Elizabeth Wilkerson.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 2384 Dabney Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be members of the United States Army Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Island Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 950 Stagecoach Road, Henderson, NC27537.
