HENDERSON- Mr. William Haywood Pegram, age 84, a resident of 489 Daniel Harris Road, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on August 3, 1930, he was the son of the late William Elmus Pegram and Lucy Harris Pegram.He was a retired tobacco farmer and fireman.He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and the Mens Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1100 AM at Cokesbury United Methodist Church by Rev. Julia Alliger and Rev. Matt Evans.Burial will follow in the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Jessie Ray Pegram and wife, Kay of Henderson, Allen Haywood Pegram and fiance, Marie of Greenville, NC; two sisters, Mary P. Abbott of Henderson and Rose P. Floyd of Durham; two brothers, Elmus Gray Pegram and Jerry Pegram, both of Henderson; three grandsons, Jason Pegram and wife, Katie, Adam Pegram and wife, Allison, and Mike Hodges; and three great grandchildren, Cole Robert Pegram, Savannah Grace Pegram and Alayna Jane Pegram.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Elliott Pegram; three sisters, Rachel P. Abbott; Lottie P. Collier and Peggy Pegram; and a brother, Wheeler Pegram.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 till 8:30 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home, 489 Daniel Harris Road, Henderson.
Serving as active pall bearers will be George Pegram, Bill Atkinson, Michael Coghill, Mike Coghill, Ricky Edwards, and David Harris, II.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of the Mens Class of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Cokesbury Fire Department, Vance County Emergency Services, and the Vance County Rescue Squad.
