William Andrew Saunders, age 86, a resident of 914 Nelson Street diedFriday, July 28, 2016, in a local nursing home.Born in Vance County on July 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Saunders and Lena Myrtle McGhee Saunders.William was a Veteran of the United Sates Army serving in Korea during the Korean War.He was a retired electrician from Laurens Glass Company and a member of Clearview Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Abidan Shah and the Rev. Marshall Don Capell.Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Capell Saunders of the home; three daughters, Angela Darlene Saunders of Fernandina Beach, FL, Andrea Jean Moon (Michael) of Charlotte, and Aletha Gail Saunders-Carithers (Dwight) of Raleigh; six grandchildren, RobertFaulkner II (Lyndi), Benton Miller, Laura Austin Favitta (Jeff), Andrea Franklin Hennigan (Shon), JonathanFranklin, Bryan Austin; six great grandchildren, Kayla Faulkner, RobertFaulkner III, Tyler Faulkner, Ashley Faulkner, Andrea Elizabeth Franklin, and Victoria Hennigan; and one brother, Clyde Thomas Saunders (Peggy) of Charlotte; and his sister-in-law, Doris Saunders of Tarboro.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Saunders, and Floyd Saunders; and two sisters, Annie Laura Harris and Faye Murray.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 until 2 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 914 Nelson Street.
Serving as active pall bearers will be grandsons, Robert Faulkner II, Benton Miller, Jonathan Franklin, and Brian Austin; his great grandson, Robert Faulkner III; and his son-in-law, Michael Moon.
