William Sumner Smith

Henderson- William Sumner Smith, age 93, a resident of 952 Gillburg Rd, died Sunday, February 2, 2013 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on July 20, 1920 he was the son of the late Charles Sumner Smith and Elizabeth Brodie Parsons Smith.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired employee of the Daily Dispatch, where he worked as a linotype operator, printer and repairman.He was also a member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church.
A private Burial will be held by his family.
He was the widower of Margaret Brummitt Smith
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Beverly Smith Thompson and husband Gene of Henderson; three sons, Timothy Earl Smith and wife Midge, William Kerry Smith, and Sumner Michael Smith all of Henderson; a brother, Charles Parsons Smith; three grandchildren, Shannon T. Reavis and husband Bryan, Matthew R. Thompson and wife Carrie, and Amy N. Smith; and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Alex Reavis.
The family will receive friends at the home of Beverly and Gene Thompson, at 1072 Gillburg Rd, from 3 to 7 pm February 4 through February 6.
