HENDERSON-Willie Gray Edwards, Sr., 88, a resident of Faulkner Town Road, died Monday, March 08, 2021.Born in Warren County on February 14, 1933, he was the son of the late Willie Joe Edwards and Jodie Mosley Edwards, and was the widower of Ruth Bailey Edwards.Willie was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War, and was a retired tobacco farmer.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Calvin Hedgepeth and the Rev. Tim Burgess.
He is survived by one daughter, Sandy Edwards Batten (Kevin) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; one son, Willie G. Edwards, Jr. (Tracy) of Henderson; five grandchildren, Stephanie Short McDonald, Gina Edwards Pegram, Ashlee Batten Cosentino, Lora Rowland Pasour, Jessica Rowland Stainback; three great-grandchildren, Claire McDonald, Julia Cosentino, Anna Grace Stainback; one sister Helen Abbott of Henderson; and his faithful companion, Clarence.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM and immediately following the service at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Willie Edwards, Jr. at 523 Faulkner Town Road, Henderson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Joyce, Lillian and Martha for their loving and compassionate care.
Those attending the service and visitation are asked to obey CDC guidelines by wearing appropriate face coverings and practice social distancing.For those that do not feel comfortable attending the service, they may view it here.
