HENDERSON-Willie Pettigrew June Hope, Jr., age 83, a resident of 8926 NC Hwy 39 N., died Monday, May 27, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center.Born on February 20, 1930 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Willie Pettigrew Hope, Sr. and Alice Norwood Hope King.Mr. Hope was a Veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany.He was retired from Burlington Industries after working for forty-four years and was currently employed with Waste Industries, where he was working at the Townsville site. He was a member of Marrows Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Marshall Neathery and the Rev. Darrel Bowles.Burial will follow in the Marrows Chapel Church Cemetery.
He is survived by a son, James Thomas Jimmy Hope, a sister, Mary Ann Hope Rivers, and a brother, John Hope all of Henderson; two grandchildren, Kristy Hope and James Thomas J.T. Hope, Jr.; and a great-grandson Taylor Firtick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Winn Hope; and two brothers, James A. Hope and Taylor Hope.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 at the J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 8926 NC Hwy. 39 N. in the Williamsboro Community.
Serving as active pall bearers will be George Harris, Gene Vaughan, Wallace Edwards, Billy Rivers, Bobby Orr, James Orr, Sr., and Bernie Vollmer.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Marrows Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Marshall Tingen, 9034 McDuffie Road, Oxford, NC27565.
Arrangements are by J.M. White Funeral Home.
