Willis Ray Collier, Sr., 82, a resident of 5392 NC Hwy. 39 South, died Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Maria Parham Health. Born in Vance County on November 10, 1937, he was the son of the late William Henry "Buddy" Collier and Irene Pendergrass Collier. He was a retired foreman at the former Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. where he worked for 35 years.After his retirement he worked at Magnolia Rentals and Henderson Laundry.He attended Unity Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home by the Rev. Calvin Hedgepeth.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by two daughters, Gwen C. Robinson and Lisa W. Collier (Kim) of Henderson; one son, Ray Collier, Jr. (Dolores) of Henderson; three stepdaughters, Brenda Faulkner (Jimmy) of Middleburg, Teresa Matthews of Kittrell, and Linda Harris (Russell) of Henderson; one step-son, Charles Matthews (Margie) of Henderson; one sister, Lucy C. Ellis of Petersburg, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren; and his faithful companion Buddy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine "Kat" Wiggins Collier; three sisters, Florence Stokes, Maxine Jackson, and Iola Coghill; and three brothers; Richard Collier, Samuel Collier, and Ernest Collier.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at his home.
Serving as pall bears will be Jonathan Collier, Matthew Collier, Aaron Elliott, Tony Norwood, W. A. West, and Pedro Martinez.
