HENDERSON- Mrs. Betty Jo Lee Johnson, 80, a resident of Woodtrail Way, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Maria Parham Health surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Born January 1, 1945 in Spring Hill, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Gray Lee and Cornelius Earl Lee. She attended Louisiana Tech and was a pianist at Hermon Methodist Church for 30 years. Betty was a volunteer at Maria Parham Hospital, and was an avid Bridge Player, playing in many different clubs. Betty lived a life defined by faith, love, kindness and devotion to her family. She was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Her unwavering love for her family and steadfast faith in the Lord were her foundation. Her life was a living testimony of love, service and grace-whether through words of encouragement, acts of care, or joyful laughter. Betty touched countless hearts and left behind a legacy of faith and compassion. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James H. “Jim” Johnson III; two daughters, Kim J. Rogers (Trey) of Oxford and Amy J. Peralta (Jesus) of Henderson; one son James H. “Jimmy” Johnson IV of Oxford; grandchildren, Justin Roberson (Ashley) of Henderson, Morgan Cash (John), Colin Roberson (Lauren) both of Oxford, Beth Pugh (Curtis) of Stem, Katie Horney (Jim) of Wake Forest, Holly Steg of Henderson, and Christopher Steg of Henderson; great-grandchildren Ty, Nash and Jack Roberson (Justin and Ashley), Matt and Sophie Lee Cash (Morgan and John), Everly and Ella Roberson (Lauren and Colin), Gabby, Ashton Kate and Allie Pugh (Beth and Curtis), and Coulter and Ridley Horney (Jim and Katie); nephews Brandon Rue (Sharley) and Nathan Rue (Kaylin) of Friendswood, Texas; nieces Lisa Toland (Mike) of Minden, Louisiana, and Sharon LaBorde (Steve) of Layfette, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Jim Krajefska of Pearland, Texas, and many other dear relatives and friends who will cherish her memory. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth-Ann Krajefska, brother, Robert Lee, and niece, Lisa Toland. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Hermon Methodist Community Church. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor her memory. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s. The family sends a heartfelt message of thanks to the entire staff at Maria Parham Hospital for the exceptional care and service provided to Betty, especially Dr. Kamil, Dr. Mohammad, Dr. Singh, Dr. Sawan, Dr. Mac, and the entire PCU and ICU nurses and team. The love, gentleness, and compassion shown, not only for Betty, but our family, will not be forgotten. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday in the Herman Methodist Community Church Fellowship Hall from 12:30 until 1:50 PM. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Hermon Methodist Community Church by the Rev. Johnny Yount.
